WHAT: Members of the Spalding County Fire Department along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will host the fire fighters’ annual “Fill the Boot” fundraising campaign and continue a 60-year tradition of helping save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease in the Spalding County area.

WHERE: Walmart, Huckaby’s (Newnan Rd. & Hollonville Rd.), Kangaroo (Jackson Rd. & N. McDonough Rd.), & Super Foods (Old Atlanta Rd. & Vineyard Rd.)

WHEN: Thursday, August 13 – Saturday, August 15, 2015 and Thursday, August 20 – Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

WHY: For more than six decades, fire fighters have fueled MDA’s mission to find treatments and cures for life-threatening muscle diseases. Muscular Dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.

More than 75 members of the Spalding County Fire Department will fan out across the county with boots in hand for this year’s “Fill the Boot” drive at Walmart, Huckaby’s (Newnan Rd. & Hollonville Rd.), Kangaroo (Jackson Rd. & N. McDonough Rd.), & Super Foods (Old Atlanta Rd. & Vineyard Rd.), on Thursday, August 13 – Saturday, August 15, 2015 and again on Thursday, August 20 – Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Funds raised through 2015 Spalding County “Fill the Boot” will support MDA’s life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art support groups and clinics, including the MDA Clinic at Scottish Right and Emory. The funds raised also make MDA summer camp possible to kids with muscle disease. Children who have had this experience proclaim it to be “the best week of the year” at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA and nearly 80 other locations nationwide.
