During the holiday season, the Spalding County Senior Nutrition program strives to spread Christmas cheer to seniors within our community by providing Christmas presents to those who might otherwise not receive gifts.
On Wednesday, December 20, 2017, Christmas arrived extra bright and several days early to 90 Meals on Wheels participants as they received winter care packages and fruit baskets.
Through local partnerships with James Jenkins of Griffin Food Depot and Dave Lamb of CareMaster Medical Services, the Senior Nutrition program was able to provide 90 fruit baskets to Meals on Wheels participants.
With the help of Spalding County Senior Center members and Correctional Institute employees, Spalding County Senior Nutrition also provided 90 winter care packages filled with gloves, hats, scarves, socks, thermals, and throw blankets.
Participants were excited and greatly appreciative of the gifts provided. Ms. Francis Knoff (Age: 95) stated “I am so happy and overwhelmed to receive this fruit basket and Christmas gift today.”
