The Spalding County Board of Commissioners announced today that participating residents will be eligible to on save average 64.7 percent using its “new” discount prescription card through Coast2Coast Rx. Since this free program was launched in Spalding County in 2016, our residents have already seen a savings of nearly $70,000. “The multiple benefits of the program give card users the opportunity to better manage their health by having access to prescriptions they might not otherwise be able to afford” said Commissioner Gwen FlowersTaylor. “The program allows us to serve the county in several ways – it gives residents access to discounted health care options, and the funds generated are put back into the community to further programs and services for those in need”.

The card can be a significant cost-saver for those without health insurance and it can be equally as effective for those with insurance who have high deductibles or require a prescription not covered under their current plan. Consumers enjoy savings up to 75 percent on more than 60,000 brand name and generic prescription drugs. In some instances, the card can be used to offset the Medicare Part D “donut hole”. The free program is available to everyone with no enrollment and no restrictions on age or health status. Additional benefits include discounts on vision, dental and hearing services, diabetes supplies, vet services and pet prescriptions.

“Our mission is to improve the lives of the citizens of our community; so it was an easy decision to launch this free program,” said Chairman Rita Johnson. “Knowing that our citizens will have access to discounted prescriptions, diabetes supplies and other health care services made it all worth it.”
