Griffin-Spalding County Archway Partnership Invites Citizens to Community-Wide Listening Session

May 19th, 2015

GRIFFIN, Ga. – Griffin and Spalding County leaders and the University of Georgia Archway Partnership are hosting listening sessions to better understand the most important issues facing the community. Citizen support and engagement is essential to bringing the resources available through the Archway Partnership to Griffin and Spalding County, thus making the listening session an important key to bringing real change to the community.

The Archway Partnership, a Public Service and Outreach Unit at the University of Georgia, delivers a full range of University of Georgia and other resources to local communities throughout the state of Georgia by building strong partnerships and a better pipeline between UGA and the local communities served by Archway. Partner communities have direct access to the knowledge, research, and other resources available from the University. The City of Griffin, Spalding County and the Board of Education have committed to partnering with UGA’s Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach to make Griffin-Spalding County an Archway community.

The Archway Partnership provides a neutral platform where government and community leaders and groups can come together to discuss the needs of their community and connect to higher education resources. A diverse group of local leaders will serve on the Archway Executive Committee, giving direction through multiple voices on ways to address communitydriven priorities.

“We are excited about the opportunity to hear about all of the great things happening in Griffin and Spalding County, and to better understand some of the challenges the community is facing,” said Angel Jackson, Archway Coordinator of Operations. “We will be using what we learn at this most important listening session to help leaders create solutions for moving the community forward in the future.”

The Griffin-Spalding County Archway Listening Sessions will be held on Tuesday, June 2 nd at 9:30 AM in the Spalding County High School cafeteria and 6:30 PM in the Orrs Elementary cafeteria. Light refreshments will be served.
