Daniel Cowles - Lieutenant / Fire Safety Officer
Lieutenant Cowles assists the Fire Marshal’s Office with preforming business fire inspections, fire cause and determination investigations, fire prevention details and events, and community risk reduction. He Joined the Spalding County Fire Department in 2023 as as a Lieutenant and Fire Safety Officer.
Lieutenant Cowls begin his fire service career in 2008 with the City of Griffin Fire Rescue department. While serving with Griffin Fire Rescue, he served in several capacities including Firefighter EMT, Rescue TechSpecialist, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, and Life Safety Educator.
Lieutenant Cowles graduated from Southern Crescent Technical College with a Certificate in Firefighting Technology and has a bachelor's degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.
He is credentialed as a Fire Inspector II, Fire InvestigatorII, Fire Fighter II and a Life Safety Educator I through the Georgia FireAcademy. In addition, Lieutenant Cowles is a certified EMT through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Lieutenant Cowles is married to Captain Lisa Cowles, a Shift supervisor with WellStar EMS services. They have one child; Johanna.
