Marcus Goodman - Fire Captain Training Officer
Captain Goodman oversees the professional development of all personnel within the Spalding County Fire Department. He conducts, coordinates, and tracks all in-service training for incumbent firefighters. Additionally, he is the primary instructor and coordinator for the Spalding County Fire Department recruit school. Furthermore, he is responsible for departmental reporting to all required state agencies for certification purposes. Leveraging his extensive background and education, Captain Goodman specializes in planning, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive training programs designed to deliver fire concepts and principles that significantly enhance the skills and readiness of Spalding County fire personnel. Known for his approach and strong leadership, Marcus fosters a collaborative, safety-focused environment that garners results.
Captain Goodman started with the Spalding County Fire department in 1997 in which he has worked his way up to departmental training officer. He has extensive experience in fire safety and emergency response along with being a life long public servant. Prior to the fire service, Captain Goodman proudly served in the United States Marine Cops.
Captain Goodman has an associates degree in Fire Science Technology from West Georgia Technical College and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Clayton State University (Go Lakers!).
Outside of his professional responsibilities, he is also a family man with two beautiful daughters, Tatiana and Markayla. He enjoys visiting serene places and learning new systems, which reflects his commitment to personal growth and a balanced lifestyle while serving the community he grew up in.
