Rocky White - Fire Marshal
Captain White serves as the Fire Marshal for Spalding CountyFire Department. He oversees all fire prevention efforts for the department to include fire investigations, plan reviews, code enforcement as well as inspections of commercial and industrial buildings to ensure fire code compliance. Captain White further supervises all community risk reduction efforts.
Captain White began his career with the Spalding County FireDepartment in May of 2008, and after working for several years as a firefighter, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2012. During this time, he served in several capacities, including taking on the role of one of the department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) instructors, a robust program that to this day remains an invaluable resource in creating greater awareness regarding fire and life safety education for members of the community.
In 2016, White accepted the position of Fire Safety Officer, a pivotal role that involved the continued promotion of fire safety throughout the community. White was also designated as the department’s public information officer during this time, often serving as the primary point of contact for public communications as well as media relations.
In 2023, White was promoted to the rank of Captain and the position of Fire Marshal.
Captain White’s certifications include Georgia Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I, Inspector I, Fire Instructor II, Fire InvestigatorII and Fire Officer II, through the Georgia Fire Academy. Captain White has also completed the Georgia Basic Law Enforcement Training Course and is a registered Peace Officer through Georgia POST (Peace Officer Standards andTraining).
A self-proclaimed “fitness junkie”, Captain White serves as the department’s primary physical training instructor for new recruits. When not at work, a large portion of his spare time is devoted to training for various athletic activities as well as instructing spin classes at a local gym. To date, he has completed over 100 long distance running events in several states throughout the country.
