Spalding U Community Engagement Course – Starting March 13, 2025
Spalding U is a 10-week course starting March 13, 2025, designed to help individuals understand county governance. This comprehensive course will explore a wide range of topics crucial to effective county management, including public works, leisure services, community development, budgeting, property taxes, and human resources.
Throughout the course, students will dive into the operations of key county departments, such as corrections, animal care and control, code enforcement, and elections/voter registration, Fire & EMA and E-911. They will also learn about the zoning, state court system, processes, and how these elements work together to serve our community. With a focus on practical knowledge, students will gain insights into how local government decisions impact daily life and how they can influence policies related to these areas.

Please note that participation is limited to 30 students, so be sure to secure your spot early! To apply, submit your application by filling out the online form available on the Spalding County website. Be sure to include your contact information, a brief statement of interest, and any relevant experience or background in community engagement. Selected participants will be notified by March 6th. Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Classes will be held at the Spalding County Emergency Management, 1005 Memorial Dr, Griffin, GA 30223, every Thursday evening beginning March 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
