What You Should Know About This Park

Spalding County obtained the land to build Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park in 1993. In 1999 the park was completed using 1996 SPLOST funds. This beautiful regional park of 164 acres was named after Olympic Gold medalist Wyomia Tyus who is from Griffin/Spalding County. Since its opening this park has quickly become a favorite as it features 2 large picnic pavilions overlooking a 3 acre lake with fountain, a 7 field soccer complex and a 5 field baseball complex.

Tyus Park has has a paved 1.25 mile walking track and a 5K cross-county trail.

· Pickleball is managed by Spalding County Pickleball Association, Inc. - A 501(C) 3 volunteer organization.

Each complex offers concessions and additional picnic and play areas. The baseball complex has the added bonus of batting and pitching cages.

Fitness walking is one of the favorite activities in the community and this park offers rubberized and paved trails throughout the park as well as stretching and exercise areas. The walk trails are lighted for evening walks.
